I came back 2 weeks early from my journey through Ireland and Scotland. I felt I needed those 2 weeks to process everything and rest. But when I came home it turned out that the city council was throwing us out of the community farm where I lived. We had 1,5 weeks to move our stuff out. Spring at Ferme de Chebais It hit me as a shock. The last week of my journey I longed so much to be home and feel at home. Suddenly I no longer had a home… After the shock my lovely boyfriend offered to share his house with me. So I moved into the big city of Ghent. Quite different from the 17th century farmhouse I lived in the last 2 years. I am really grateful that I had the opportunity to live in such a beautiful house in such a lovely valley. Summer at Chebais I met beautiful people and made friends for a lifetime. We had amazing talks about life and enjoyed the good life. At one time we were even fantasizing about brewing our own Chebais farm beer. :) The farmhouse was an old abbey farm with an amazing history. It even got a spot in the history brochure we made at my job about natural stones in the region. The building has this amazing link with the Gobertange stone that was excavated there and used by the monastery that built the farm. Winter in Chebais I also experienced some hard times there, a lot of confrontations with myself and my principles. But even then I look back at them as lessons I needed to learn. And am still learning. Farewell ferme de Chebais. I hope time continues to treat you well…. View on the valley of Chebais Life goes on. And suddenly I’m a city girl. I now live 120 km away from the farm. And from my job. So my traveler’s life continues. On my working days I am very lucky to have generous friends and family that invite me over to stay.
